Tropes

Tropes is my first piece for wind band in several years and serves as a love letter to the repertoire I grew up with as a band kid. Throughout this bombastic fanfare, listen for the speckles of Ticheli, Mackey, Sheldon, Chance, both Reeds, Clifton Williams, as well as inspiration from band arrangements of Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Gabrielli, Bruckner, Berlioz, and Respighi. I hope band nerds can play and hear this piece and feel all the warming, silly, and powerful moments to access something deeply affirming within.
