Program Notes: Within, Without is about the struggle I dealt with in my first serious long-term relationship, going from close proximity to long distance. Without the physical proximity, the relationship crumbled and lost the inertia to propel forward. During the periods of long distance, severaltragic events occurred, causing even more strain on the already tenuous relationship, including the death of my then partner's mother, the closing of his university in Chicago, and his home country of Saudi Arabia growing even more tense and volatile. Within, Without is merely my experience, while not programmatic, it is meant to be my personal journal, for everyone to hear what can’t be put into words.
